Dear General Motors,

Every once in awhile a story comes along that grabs your attention. A tale of man and his trusty machine…

In 1981 my father, Eddie O’Donnell took delivery of a GMC ¾ ton, 4x4 with standard 4 on the floor transmission for use in hunting and fishing lodge, up in the Lake Abitibi wilderness.

That was 23 years ago. And throughout those 23 years man and his machine have beaten their way through dense bush, rocky hills, across streams and swamps together. And they’re still at it!

To see this truck and man, is to watch a bond that has blossomed with age. I believe long after the mechanics have given up, O’Donnell will still be call out to his trusty GMC, there’s still one more spark left in her, and one more time she’ll roar to life!

Up North in Lake Abitibi there is an incredible story just waiting to be told. About an old man and his GMC machine. Unbelievable but true!

Yours truly,

Hello! Just a short note to comment on my recent purchase of a 2004 Malibu Maxx.

GREAT CAR!! Having had it for about 3 weeks now, after owning mini vans for the past 7 years, I have found the cargo area in this car matches my needs very, very well. (I am in the office equipment repair industry and must carry supplies and parts with me)

So far, I have found the handling, fuel economy (2000 km’s so far) and the comfort of this vehicle is very acceptable.

I recently drove through a pounding rain storm, (wipers on full) and experienced no hydro planing, slipping or lack of control was felt even at highway speeds.

What can I say...... I LOVE THIS CAR.

Thank you for a great product... and special thanks to Jeff G. at Nicholson Chevrolet in Edmonton , AB and the Sales management staff there for making my Car shopping a comfortable and pleasant experience.

They took the time and made the effort to get me into the vehicle I wanted In a fair and reasonable manner. I also was introduced to the service department staff as they will have a major roll in maintaining this vehicle.

Thanks again,

R. Oomen, Sherwood Park , Alberta

Last week I was travelleling on the highway in Terra Nova National Park in Newfoundland Canada and hit a black bear that came running across the road. I was travelling about 100 Kilometers per hour and turned the car to try to avoid him but unfortunately he hit the side with a loud thump. I looked in the mirror and saw him roll over on the road. He then ran into the woods. My passenger & I then stopped to check out the car. No damage, just the highway dust and dirt cleaned from the door where he made contact. I'm sure the bear is just as happy as I am that these are soft shock absorbing panels.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to you and your staff for the excellent customer service I received at your dealership.

On my way through Manitoba on the 6th of April I had a problem with the exhaust on my car. The service advisor, Mr. Terry Smith, had my car on the hoist as soon as possible. The mechanic Dwayne made his report and I approved the repair.

They had to phone to get parts. While I was waiting, everyone in the office show room area kept me calm and looked after getting water for my dog.

The repairs were carried out swiftly and efficiently. Many thanks for the excellent service.

Yours truly,

Dear Madam or Sir:

My brother owns a truly incredible car. Why it might be of interest to you is that my brother's car is a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am. What is truly amazing is that he has over 540,000 kilometers on it … and it's still going! Adding to this unique story is that except for routine maintenance my brother has never had any major work done on his car. The rust is starting to show and the windshield is cracked. The interior is a little noisy, I hear, when the car is moving at higher speeds. But for all that, the car looks and drives wonderfully.

Maybe my brother's car isn't unique. If so, General Motors needs to better promote the longevity of the company's passenger cars. If my brother's car is unique, I think that General Motors should use this example to show just how good a North American car can be. I wonder how many consumers would believe that a Pontiac Grand Am could still be roadworthy after more than 540,000 kilometers?

Sincerely yours;

W. Reed, Kemptville, Ontario

I am writing this letter on the behalf of my family.

In my family we have a 1986 Pontiac Sunbird. It has over 300,000 km. It has been in our family since brand new. Mind you it was a demo model and may have had a couple of km's on it when purchased. Since this car has been in our family, it has done us a great service. It needed very little repair or replacement of parts over the course of 18 years. The only major things on the vehicle that ever needed to be done were replacement of the fuel pump and radiator.

I would like to thank General Motors for building such a great car. We still drive the car everywhere and it's running great. It's a fantastic vehicle and my parents could not ask for anything more. GM sure knows how to build cars. Thank you for reading my comments.

Sincerely,
N. Bhanji, Surrey, British Columbia

I would just like to say thank you. I own a 1989 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab. It is coming up to 500,000 km's. My Silverado still runs great! Obviously things wear down or need replacing from time to time, however, my Silverado is still very reliable and comfortable to drive. Thank you again. You can be sure my next vehicle will be a Chevrolet Silverado.

Update from B. Bakuska:

I do wish to update you on what has been happening. Approximately a week or so after sending GM my letter, I unfortunately had an accident……However, I am the glad to say that I am a proud owner of a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado. Needless to say, I am impressed with its comfort and abilities as well as its looks. I hope I can get another 500,000 km of reliable driving from this truck as well. Thanks again GM for building a fine vehicle.

Yours Sincerely,
B. Bakuska, Rosedale, British Columbia
