It isn’t enough today for an SUV to be simply strong and powerful. It also has to be fuel efficient. It has to incorporate all the latest in communications and entertainment features. It has to include a full range of safety equipment. Tahoe does all that and goes one better, with a Hybrid model that employs leading-edge technologies that demonstrates how Chevrolet continues to set the pace that others must follow.
Chevrolet developed the Tahoe Hybrid for people who needed the capabilities of a Chevrolet full-size SUV, yet wanted to minimize their fuel consumption and their impact on the environment. The advanced Two-Mode Hybrid System can operate on electric power alone, on gasoline engine power alone, or with a combination of the two. Gasoline power is generated by the 332 hp VortecTM 6.0L LIVC V8 that includes fuel-saving Active Fuel Management®. Just how far can this technology take you? Tahoe Hybrid's 8.1L/100 km city fuel consumption rating is lower than a six-cylinder Toyota Camry or Honda Accord.**
Tahoe's VortecTM 5.3L V8 produces the power you need — 320 hp. Just as importantly, it establishes best-in-class 9.5L/100 km highway and 14.4L/100 km city ratings on 4x4 models.† That is the result of sophisticated Active Fuel Management technology that shuts down four cylinders in low-demand conditions, such as when cruising at highway speeds. When more power is needed, the engine returns to eight-cylinder operation seamlessly. Variable Valve Timing (VVT) optimizes combustion timing, further enhancing fuel efficiency, as does the six-speed automatic transmission that includes two overdrive gears.
Tahoe has the capacity to move up to nine people — more than either the Ford Expedition or Nissan Armada.†† Even with that many on board, Tahoe has 479L (16.9 cu. ft.) of cargo space. If you want to transform Tahoe into a cargo hauler, fold down the second row, remove the third, and open up a vast 3,084L (108.9 cu. ft.) of space. For those even larger toys, like boats or horse trailers, Tahoe is engineered as a tow vehicle, with a maximum towing capacity of 3,856 kg (8,500 lb). And for 2012, trailer sway control and hill hold assist features are added to the transmission to make Tahoe an even more effective hauler.
While Tahoe can take you far from civilization, its technology keeps you connected along the way. Standard information, communications and entertainment technology includes OnStar® with Turn-by-Turn Navigation — the simplest and smartest navigation available. Communications are enabled by the standard Bluetooth® wireless mobile phone connectivity. And your entertainment is enhanced by the 130 channels of XM Satellite RadioTM‡. Stay connected and entertained in Tahoe.
