There's smart storage in the door panels and armrest, as well as umbrella storage in the front doors, and integrated cupholders and phone storage in the console so the driver can have those essentials close at hand. The available Comfort and Convenience Package represents another thoughtful convenience that gives you two preset positions for the power eight-way driver seat, power-adjustable steering wheel and exterior mirrors. Stay connected to work, family and friends with your hands safely on the steering wheel using Bluetooth® connectivity.7 Simply pair your compatible Bluetooth®-enabled smartphone with MyLinkTM3 and use voice commands to make a call or stream music. By pairing your device or connecting to MyLinkTM3 through one of the three available USB ports,6 you can have access to your entire contact list, personal playlists and select mobile apps. Customize your driving experience by arranging the icons and features on your available 203 mm (8") colour touch-screen along with the Driver Information Centre to display the information or choices you're looking for. Impala features Chevrolet's largest colour touch-screen yet, along with hidden storage behind the screen with a USB port6 to store your phone or items. In Valet Mode, it locks to help keep valuable items safe and securely out of reach. Once your screen and Driver Information Centre are customized to your preferences, you're ready to bring your favourite music and entertainment with you. The new available Chevrolet MyLinkTM3 works with your compatible smartphone and Bluetooth® wireless connectivity to stream music and entertainment - with access to mobile apps7 such as Stitcher SmartRadioTM. Or you can listen to 120 channels of programming through the three-month trial of SiriusXM Satellite RadioTM.8 The latest Chevrolet MyLinkTM3 even allows you to store up to 60 favourites, including radio stations, contacts, destinations, music and other media.
Voice and gesture recognition
The latest available Chevrolet MyLinkTM system3 offers natural-language voice recognition that allows you to place calls, enter destinations, browse media and play music with simple natural speech. Or you can accomplish various tasks using gestures, such as a swipe across the screen, similar to methods used on mobile devices.
USB Ports
Access music and entertainment stored on your smartphone while driving simply by connecting it to the simple-to-use available Chevrolet MyLinkTM system3 through one of three available USB ports.6 With two ports in the console and another tucked away in the hidden storage compartment behind the colour touch-screen, you can charge multiple devices while on the road.
Full-colour Touch-screen
The 203 mm (8") diagonal colour touch-screen has a power up/down feature that reveals a hidden behind-screen storage compartment with a USB port,6 so you can charge and store your phone while driving. You can even customize the look of the on-screen graphics with one of four available themes.
Rear Vision Camera
The available rear vision camera on Impala displays a rear view on the touch-screen located conveniently in the centre stack for easy view. This feature helps you see stationary objects behind your Impala when travelling in reverse at low speeds. Available Rear Cross-Traffic Alert also alerts you to approaching vehicles while backing up.
Keyless Access
There's no need to hunt for your key fob in your purse or pocket with this available feature. Simply press the sensor on the door handle and the door will unlock. And then as long as the key fob is inside the car, you can start the engine with the push of a button.
Surround Sound
Everything in the all-new Impala, including the sound quality of your music, is made for total driving enjoyment. The available 11-speaker Bose® Centerpoint Surround Sound audio system has been carefully tuned to the interior acoustics of Impala.
Dedicated To Safety
Preventative measures
Safety was a top priority when designing the 2014 Impala. So Impala features some of the most innovative and ingenious advances in safety technology from standard StabiliTrak® to available Collision Mitigation Braking.
The Advanced Safety Package, available on LT and standard on LTZ, features additional available technologies including Forward Collision Alert, which scans for vehicles ahead and alerts the driver to potential crash risks. Also available on LTZ is Full-Speed-Range Adaptive Cruise Control9 and Collision Mitigation Braking, which utilizes radar in the front grille to sense traffic ahead and can automatically apply the brakes to help avoid a front-end collision or reduce impact speed. Adaptive Cruise Control adjusts or maintains vehicle speed accordingly when set to "maintain follow distance."
New assistance technologies
In the new Impala, innovation is put to work for your safety and that of your passengers, with newly available safety technologies that help give drivers "eyes in the back of their head" to aid in rear vision, as well as systems that help alert the driver to potential hazards at the sides of the vehicle and in your blind spots. Using radar sensors, Forward Collision Alert identifies vehicles ahead and alerts the driver to any potential crash risks while Rear Cross-Traffic Alert helps alert the driver to approaching vehicles from behind while the vehicle is in reverse. Similar radar sensors help keep an eye on blind spots to the side of the vehicle with the Side Blind Zone Alert,10 which illuminates small LED symbols in the corresponding outside mirror when another vehicle is detected. Impala even keeps an eye on your driving with the available Lane Departure Warning. It produces an audible alert while driving if you unintentionally drift out of your lane without using a turn signal.
Protection and response
In the event of a collision, the vehicle's innovative safety features go to work helping to protect with 10 standard airbags.2 Since structural integrity of a vehicle is important during a collision, Impala provides a strong, stiff body that incorporates ultra-high-strength steel. There's also the safety and support of OnStar® standard for six months, with Automatic Crash Response. In many crashes, built-in sensors can automatically alert an OnStar® Advisor, who is immediately connected to your Impala to see if you need help. Even if you don't respond, an OnStar® Advisor can use GPS technology to pinpoint your exact location and request that emergency help be sent to you immediately.
