At the intersection of Le Mans and the Autobahn sits a showcase of the latest in ultra-high performance automotive design and engineering – the all-new 2015 Corvette Z06. This world-class supercar is the closest link yet between Corvettes built for racing and the road. Created to elevate the driving experience to the next level, Z06 was engineered more rigid than ever before, with an aluminum space frame, carbon-fibre hood and removable carbon-fibre roof panel. It was also designed to be powerful, with an all-new supercharged 6.2L aluminum V8 engine delivering an estimated 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque.

The 2015 Corvette Z06 is one of the industry's only supercars to achieve over 600 horsepower and offer a choice of two transmissions – a 7-speed manual or an all-new paddle-shift 8-speed automatic. The driver-centric Z06 elevates the experience even further with technologies like a Driver Mode Selector, which allows for customization of vehicle performance dynamics with the turn of a knob. And Corvette owners can relive their drives on or off the track with the available industry-exclusive3 Performance Data Recorder, which records high-definition video with telemetry overlays on playback.

New 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 alongside the C7.R race car.

Dominant on legendary race tracks around the world, Corvette has earned unmatched success. The next generation C7.R race car will debut this season in the new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Series. The C7.R and the 2015 Corvette Z06 share unprecedented levels of engineering and components including chassis architecture, engine technologies and aerodynamic strategies.

The all-new Z06 is the best example yet of the technology transfer between racing and production Corvettes. First, engineers took what they learned on the Corvette Racing C6.R and applied that knowledge to the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Then, using the Stingray as a foundation, the Z06 and C7.R were co-developed to push the envelope of performance on the street and the track even further.

A functional evolution in downforce

Virtually every exterior change on the 2015 Corvette Z06 served a functional purpose, producing supercar levels of performance in a number of ways. The wider flared fenders accommodate larger, wider wheels and tires for more grip. Larger vents provide more cooling air to the engine, brakes, transmission and differential for enhanced performance capability on the track. The more aggressive aerodynamic package generates improved downforce for more cornering grip and high-speed stability. The rear fenders have been extended by 80 mm and the fronts by 56 mm, creating a more commanding stance and more authoritative handling. The tires have also received an upgrade: Michelin® Pilot® Sport Cup tires4 are standard – for even more grip, new larger Michelin summer-only tires are available, as are Pilot Super Sport Cup tires that are included with the available Z07 Package.

Three levels of aerodynamic downforce

In the all-new Corvette Z06, downforce is achieved through the incorporation of a series of advanced aerodynamic design features. The standard Z06 features a front splitter, spats around the front wheel openings, a unique carbon-fibre hood with a larger vent and a rear spoiler from the Corvette Stingray's available Z51 Performance Package. Step up a level with the available Carbon-Fibre Aero Package (in either black or a visible carbon-fibre finish). It adds a carbon-fibre front splitter with aviation-style winglets, carbon-fibre rocker panels and a larger rear spoiler with a fixed wickerbill – a small, vertical tab at the edge of the spoiler that significantly increases downforce. For the ultimate in downforce, the available Z07 Package adds even larger winglets to the front splitter, along with an adjustable, transparent centre section on the rear spoiler for track use. With this package, the Corvette Z06 delivers the most aerodynamic downforce of any production car GM has ever tested.

Cooling air flow

Elite performance demands advanced cooling of key mechanical components. In the Z06, this is facilitated by a series of exterior design elements. A unique mesh grille features dedicated brake-cooling intakes and wider grille outlets, as well as a larger hood vent, which not only vents hot air from the engine compartment, but also contributes to downforce. Additional cooling features include larger front fender vents and unique air blades over the inlets on the rear fenders, standard front and rear brake-cooling ducts, as well as larger rear-fascia openings than the Stingray.

Removable roof panel

The 2015 Corvette Z06 features a carbon-fibre hood and, for the first time ever, a removable carbon-fibre roof panel. The use of carbon-fibre strips away weight, lowering the vehicle's centre of gravity and maintaining optimal weight distribution for precise handling. It also enables Z06 owners to revel in the joys of open-air driving for the first time.

Driver-centric interior

Inside, the Corvette Z06 is distinguished from the Stingray by unique colour schemes that emphasize the driver-focused cockpit, as well as a unique, flat-bottom steering wheel. Like the Stingray, the Z06 offers two seating choices: a GT seat for all-around support and comfort, and a Competition Sport seat with more aggressive side bolstering that provides greater support on the track. The frame structure for both seats is made of magnesium, for greater strength and less weight than comparable steel frames. They're also more rigid, contributing to the enhanced feeling of support during performance driving. And all models feature a fully wrapped interior, with every surface covered with premium, soft-touch materials, including available Napa leather, aluminum, carbon fibre and sueded microfibre.

Powerful, efficient performance

The 2015 Corvette Z06 is powered by an LT4 supercharged 6.2L aluminum V8 engine delivering an estimated 650 horsepower2 and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine incorporates a more efficient, more compact next-generation supercharger,5 as well as a dry sump oil system, lightweight titanium intake valves and connecting rods for reduced reciprocating mass. And while advanced engine technologies enable supercar performance, Corvette engineers have managed to increase LT4 fuel efficiency by leveraging the same trio of advanced technologies introduced on the Corvette Stingray powertrain: Direct Injection, Active Fuel Management® and continuously Variable Valve Timing (VVT).

Choice of transmissions

The 2015 Corvette Z06 is one of the only supercars that delivers over 600 horsepower while offering the choice of a 7-speed manual or an all-new available track-certified 8-speed paddle-shift automatic. The standard 7-speed with Active Rev Matching enhances the driving experience by simulating heel-toe shifting perfection at the touch of a switch. The available 8-speed paddle-shift automatic offers the smooth control of a true automatic but with quick, precise shifts and manual mode for track driving.

An intuitive driving experience

The turn of a dial changes everything. With the Driver Mode Selector, you can fine-tune your driving experience with five distinct, selectable driver modes: Weather, Eco, Tour, Sport and Track. Each mode electronically calibrates up to 12 performance variables to customize and optimize the Corvette Z06 supercar for any road and driving condition.

Three of the dozen performance variables that the Driver Mode Selector can adjust are the third-generation Magnetic Selective Ride Control, Performance Traction Management (PTM) and Electronic Limited-Slip Differential (eLSD). Standard 3rd Generation Magnetic Ride technology adapts every 10-15 milliseconds, stiffening the suspension for performance driving without sacrificing a smooth ride. Available in Track Mode, PTM offers five settings of torque reduction and brake intervention for track driving.

Standard on Z06, eLSD makes the most of the torque split between the rear wheels for improved stability and responsiveness. The system also features a hydraulically actuated clutch that can infinitely vary clutch engagement and respond from open to full engagement in mere tenths of a second in order to improve steering feel, handling, balance and traction. The system operates more aggressively in Sport and Track Modes.

Grip the road and stop fast

The 2015 Corvette Z06 offers your choice of the standard Michelin Pilot Sport tires or the track-proven Michelin Super Sport Cup tires4 that are included with the available Z07 Performance package for even more grip. Brembo® brakes increase performance and decrease weight while delivering confident stopping power. The Z06 also features two-piece 14.6"/14.4" steel rotors or available 15.5"/15.3" carbon-ceramic-matrix brake rotors with the Z07 Performance Package to ensure fast and precise stopping power.

No compromises

Like its Stingray cousin, the Corvette Z06 Convertible is built on the same rigid aluminum frame structure as the Z06 Coupe version. Designed from the start to be an open-top vehicle, no additional reinforcements were required. The convertible design mimics the Coupe roof to reduce drag, while increased downforce keeps the vehicle planted. Advanced aerodynamics with integrated coolers help cool components and improve vehicle handling. The Z06 Convertible delivers the same level of performance as the Coupe, but with the option to lower the top. In fact, the 2015 Z06 is the very first 600+ hp supercar to be made available in both coupe and convertible,3 as well as with the option of automatic or manual transmissions, providing a multitude of options for just about any driver.

Open it up

The inaugural Z06 Convertible features an all-new fully electronic convertible top that can be lowered remotely using the key fob or even while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h — all without the need for mechanical latches. With the top in place, a thick three-ply fabric design ensures maximum sound absorption for a quiet cabin. And when you decide to put the top down, it hides beneath a body-coloured tonneau cover, flowing down in a waterfall design between the seats.
