| When the summer heat hits, you and every other Canadian will be heading for water. To help you get out on the water I convinced a seasoned dock-building expert to share his secrets on waterfront access. When I called Rod Kerr, President of Waterworks Construction Limited in Halifax, NS, he had just come in from an early March ice storm. It hardly seemed the time to talk about dock building but with 33 years in the business Rod is always ready to talk dock. I asked Rod to let me have it with all the info I would need to build a dock. What he gave me was the culmination of his life spent in marine construction. Rod started in marine construction when he was 15 and founded his own dock-building business at 18. That company, Waterworks Construction, has built docks ranging from lakeside jetties to multi-million dollar ports above the artic circle. I couldn't have asked for more.
