Strong to the finish.
GMC was proud to be the official vehicle of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. GMC has been a sponsor of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Teams since Torino 2006, and will continue to proudly support athletes through to the London 2012 Olympic Summer Games. In addition to helping Canada host the best ever Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2010, GMC's Olympic commitment included support for the Own The Podium Program.
Own The Podium
Own the Podium is a sport technical initiative designed to help Canada become the number one nation in terms of medals won at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, and to place in the top three countries overall at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. Olympian past CEO of Alpine Canada Alpin, Ken Read, explained why GMC is a natural sponsor for Own The Podium 2010: "GMC has been there to support athletes for many years through the GMC Cup and sponsorship of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, so it was a natural progression for GMC to be a major supporter of Canadian Olympians and Paralympians in the 2010 Winter Games."
Amateur Skier Support
GMC is the exclusive vehicle supplier to the Canadian Alpine Ski Team (CAST) and the title sponsor of the GMC Cup and GMC Canadian Championships. Most recently, GMC invited the Canadian Men's and Women's Alpine Ski Team to take part in wind tunnel testing at the GM Aerodynamics Laboratory in Warren, Michigan.
