Kelly VanderBeek has three World Cup podiums in her career, highlighted by a third place finish at the Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart super-G in 2006.
In the 2009-2010 season VanderBeek's dreams of participating in a home Olympic Games were dashed when she tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee during a training run prior to World Cup races in Val d'Isère, FRA in December 2009.
VanderBeek remained actively engaged in the 2010 Olympics, taking part in the official torch relay just days before the start of the Games and serving as a guest commentator for Canadian broadcaster CTV.
VanderBeek also joined forces with parents and coaches from her home region of Kitchener, ON to start Kelly VanderBeek Racing, a high performance ski program that is keeping local kids competing in alpine ski racing.

Britt Janyk, who had the rare distinction of competing in the first Olympic Winter Games of her career in her hometown, narrowly missed an Olympic medal after finishing in sixth place in the ladies downhill at Whistler Creekside.
An impressive fourth place finish last season at the Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart was slightly overshadowed by teammate Emily Brydon, who finished on the podium in both World Cup downhill races in Lake Louise. The result was one of three World Cup Top 10 finishes for Janyk in the 2009/2010 season.
She also has 13 career GMC Canadian Championship titles, having won the downhill and giant slalom titles at Nakiska, AB in 2010. Janyk trails only Canadian ski racing legend Nancy Greene Raine's 17 career national titles on the all-time list.
With the retirements of Brydon and Geneviîve Simard in the off season, Janyk is the only active member of Canada's women's alpine ski team to have won a World Cup race. Janyk won a downhill in Aspen in 2007.

Despite the injury, Goodman, 24, did not give up hope that she could compete at the 2010 Olympics, and set about rehabbing the knee in order to compete. Goodman finished the ladies slalom 19th in the first Olympic competition of her career, despite the knee injury.

Jan Hudec has one of the most unique and colourful histories of any alpine ski racer.
Hudec won silver in the downhill at the 2007 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Åre, SWE, which became at the time the best result ever by a Canadian male ski racer at the World Championships. (In 2009, Canada's John Kucera won gold in the downhill.)
In 2007, Hudec became the first Canadian in the nearly 30-year history of World Cup ski racing in Lake Louise to win the downhill. He has two career World Cup podium results to his credit.
Hudec has also made a name for himself through his perseverance, having had five major knee operations on his right knee and one on his left knee. The most recent, which occurred after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee at 2009 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships downhill race in Val d'Isère, FRA, significantly impacted his 2009-2010 season. In limited races, Hudec managed a 13th place finish in the downhill in Kvitfjell, NOR. He ended up 23rd in the super-G at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Whistler, BC.

Manuel Osborne-Paradis experienced a lot of winning in the 2009-2010 season and he got started on it early.
Osborne-Paradis was considered mostly a downhill specialist until the opening World Cup super-G of last season in Lake Louise, AB, which he won decisively. It was the first World Cup super-G podium of his career. A downhill win a few weeks later in Val Gardena, ITA gave him two for the season and three for his career. Osborne-Paradis finished the season a solid fourth in the overall World Cup downhill standings.
At the 2010 Olympics, Osborne-Paradis finished 17th in the DH.
He finished the season by winning the downhill at the GMC Canadian Championships in Nakiska, the first national title of his career.

A fifth place finish in the super-G at the Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart was Robbie Dixon's top result of the last World Cup season. In total, he found the top 10 four times last season as Dixon continues to solidify his place among the world's elite ski racers.
Dixon's 'all-or-nothing' approach at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in his hometown of Whistler, BC unfortunately netted two DNF's and a 24th place in the giant slalom in his first ever Olympic competition.
A GMC Canadian super-G champion in 2009, Dixon's career trend is pointing in a very positive direction, having improved his overall World Cup ranking in each of the last three seasons.

With a series of knee injuries now a distant memory, Julien Cousineau had the best season of his career in 2009/2010.
"Cousi" finished a career best 14th on the FIS World Cup in the slalom, highlighted by two top 10 finishes including a fifth place finish in Schladming, AUT last January.
He also had one of the top second runs of the day during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games slalom in Whistler, BC and ended up in eighth spot, the top Canadian result.
A second-generation ski racer, Cousineau's father Alain was a member of the Canadian alpine ski team from 1970 to 1973.
Born in Saint-Jerome, QC, Cousineau took up skiing for the first time at the age of three. He has been on the national team since 1998.
In the 2008/09 season, Cousineau kick started his ski racing career that had been slowed by injuries, winning the overall title in the Coupe Nor-Am Cup title. Finishing on top of North America's top developmental ski racing series secured a World Cup spot for him the following season.
In June of 2009, Cousineau married longtime girlfriend Catherine (Ledoux) just west of Montreal. Several national team ski racers attended the ceremony, some even participating as groomsmen. They would all be back together just a few days later as dryland training for the coming season resumed.
